Christine Yau
PhD, MPsychotherapy & Couns, MMus
Leadership & Reflective Practice Specialist & Cultural Safety Specialist
Registered Counsellor
English, Mandarin & Cantonese
Christine spent five years as a deputy principal and educational consultant in an international school in Shenzhen, with whole-school responsibility for wellbeing across a K–9 community of 500 students and around 50 staff drawn from the UK, US, Europe, China and Hong Kong. She was the person teachers came to when they were burnt out, in conflict with a colleague, struggling with a parent, or quietly wondering whether to leave the profession.
She is now a PACFA registered counsellor working from a person-centred, trauma-informed
foundation. Much of her work with educators sits in the gap between how capable someone looks
and how they actually feel.
Christine designs and facilitates professional learning and reflective practice, and is a registered
Circle of Security Parenting facilitator. She also lectures in counselling at The Education University
of Hong Kong and examines for the AMEB — so she knows both sides of being assessed at what
you do.
She offers sessions in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, and is glad to shape each session around what you actually need that day.
